The Swampscott Nahant Youth Basketball Association (SNYB) offers girls and boys in Grades 4-8 from Swampscott and Nahant the opportunity to learn, advance and enjoy the thrill of playing competitive travel team basketball.  The organization embraces players of all talent levels and is structured for developing character, sportsmanship, leadership in addition to core basketball skills.  All SNYB teams will participate in the Cape Ann Basketball League – a combined league that is an ideal match for SNYB since it offers a wide range of competition that is catered to all skill levels.

Player registration Fee $285.00

To register, click “REGISTRATION LINK” on the bottom of the homepage. The registration fee covers all expenses for the season including gym rental fees, referee fees, league registration fees, and insurance fees. The registration fee does not include the cost of a uniform.  Your registration fee will be refunded if we do not have enough players to roster a team for your player’s age group, and your player is unwilling to play in a different age group. We accept credit/debit–payment must be made at time of registration–no spots will be held until payment is made. Please note that we will not be accepting cash or checks this year. Participation

Participation in the league requires a firm commitment to attend the two team practices held each week along with one or two games each weekend.  Games typically initiate during the first weekend of December and will conclude with a double elimination playoff series that typically ends in early March.  Home games will be held at Swampscott High School and away games will be held throughout Essex and Middlesex counties. 

Player Waiver

Every parent or guardian will be required to sign a waiver during the registration process.

Uniforms

Returning players should wear the uniforms issued in last year’s season.  If new or returning players need to order a new one, you can indicate this during the registration. The cost of a new uniform last year was $45.00, but we are currently in discussions with another vendor and hope to have an update within the next couple of weeks. 

Evaluation Night

The players will be evaluated prior to the rosters being released.  We plan to have three (3) nights of skills and drills prior to the players being evaluated.  . 

BALL SIZE by grade

Boys Grade 7 & 8 will play with 29.5

Boys Grade 4, 5, & 6 will play with 28.5

Girls All Grades will play with 28.5
